Natalie Bennett is coming to Weston super Mare Thursday Oct 10th 7.30 pm Winter Gardens

Fracking, foodbanks and finance are just three of the topics that will be addressed during a tour of the South West by Green Party leader Natalie Bennett and leading South West European Parliamentary candidates.

Natalie Bennett will be visiting Bristol, Weston-super-Mare, Bath, Swindon, Taunton and Exeter during her three day tour which begins on Thursday 10th October [1]. She will be attending a wide range of events and meetings, many of which will be open to the public. Open events include a discussion on the growth of foodbanks in Weston-super-Mare; a Q&A session in Swindon; a ‘Green Party: The Real Alternative’ meeting in Bath and a film screening of ‘Drill, Baby, Drill’, a documentary on fracking followed by a Q&A in Exeter.

Ms Bennett will also be supporting the Green Party European elections campaign and will be joined by lead South West European candidate, Molly Scott Cato at several events. Having missed out by less than one per cent at the last European elections, Greens believe they are on course to win a seat in the South West this time round. Frequent visits by Party Leader Natalie Bennett to the region are building momentum for the elections in May next year.

Natalie Bennett said:

“I am looking forward to a fascinating mix of events, discussions and issues during my tour of the South West. In particular I am keen to push the Green Party agenda for the European elections campaign. For Greens this means a focus on the need to transform the economy, making it work for people, rather than people working for the economy. That means a living wage; reduced inequality; good jobs in a green economy; promoting the return of manufacturing and food production to Britain; small business being privileged and the rampages of big businesses, particularly the finance sector, held back, and getting away from an economy built on consumer debt and house price bubbles”.
