CofE: No Women Bishops - but where will the traditionalists eat?

The Church of England Synod has just decided to reject women bishops. I haven't bothered to find out why - there is a war on after all - but we can safely assume that biblical fundamentalists are going on what St Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians  14:35 And if  they (i.e. women) will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

So there we have it. Not a lot of room for debate there, although I am sure a couple of true exegetes could manage to debate it for another couple of decades or so.

The only way round it is to say that Paul was speaking into a different cultural situation, but the fundamentalists will have none of that. They can discard Old Testament stuff like stoning adulterers, because that applied in the time of the Covenant (=agreement between God and believers) of Law, but the New Testament is a New Covenant, and it cannot be set aside.

So - NO BISHOPS OF THE FEMALE PERSUASION. Period. (Even if they are post-menopausal. (Sorry))

However, this also means NO EATING AT THE SAME TABLE AS UNBELIEVERS.

1Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if  any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

So there we have it. Pretty clear. All anti-women bishop evangelical fundamentalist traditionalists must enquire about their fellow diners' lifestyles, and if there are any fornicators, piss artist, bankers or members of the Transport Workers Union present, they will have to pop out and get a McDonald's.

Inconvenient, yes, but also consistent.
I hope this helps :)
