And about time too. It is madness to flare off gas, wasting energy, and producing CO2 for no reason at all. It is technically possible to separate oil and gas without flaring.
I wrote years ago about flares in the North Sea, to be told that "It is only 2% of the total energy". So that's all right then. On the other hand, it only takes 50 two percents to make 100%.
