The revelation by libertarian blogger Paul Staines on his Guido Fawkes site that Gordon Brown aide Damien McBride plotted with would be Labour blogger and self-styled psychotherapist Derek Draper to issue lies about Dave and George (are you keeping up?) epitomises the low state that British politics find itself in.
Politics is according to the Cambridge Advanced Learners dictionary, the activities of the government, members of law-making organizations or people who try to influence the way a country is governed.
I suppose that this definition does in all fairness cover the activities of Damien and Derek, but is that what they should be doing? I do not think so. They should be bending their minds to policy. a set of ideas or a plan of what to do in particular situations that has been agreed officially by a group of people, a business organization, a government or a political party (ibid)
In the middle of a serious recession, we definitely need a plan of what to do. There is a huge gap between the Tories' anti-keynesian policies and Labour's shovel-money-into-the-financial-vacuum-keynesianism, let alone the gap between both of these idiocies and the Green Party's plans for a Green New Deal, not to mention the Green New Deal Plus.
Instead of addressing these real issues, the Downing Street spinmeister wanted to spread lies about Dave having a dose of chlamydia or something.
How very, very sad.
