Why the Palace of Westminster is falling down
A friend of mine who is a mason ( not a Freemason, a proper stone worker) tells me that at the time that the Palace of Westminster was being built, Members of Parliament looked at the estimate was submitted, and saw that it contained an item titled "Beer Allowance" for the stonemasons. Being Tories, they deleted the item. In response, the Masons supplied substandard soft stone, in order to see to it that following masons should be assured of plenty of work, even if they didn't get the beer money.
