News from Iran

Demonstrators helped injured riot policeman. This is Humanity in action; the Green Revolution will succeed.

Another similar incident: Basiji man on ground, young woman protester protecting him from harm.


General Ali Fazli, commander Revolutionary Guards arrested - refused to carry out orders from Khamenei to use force. Good sign.

Report that some Generals of Revolutionary Guard and Army unwilling to take orders from Khamanei.

Roger Cohen's latest for the New York times is out. One newsworthy passage: "On Sunday, I saw Mehdi Hashemi Rafsanjani, the son of the establishment's embittered éminence grise, Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. He told me his father, who despises President Mahmoud Adhmadinejad, is fighting a furious rearguard action to have the election annulled by the Guardian Council, the 12-member oversight body that will pronounce this week on the election's legality."

National strike has been called for tomorrow in Iran. [update: IRIB, (State TV) about 30% of employees are absent. National Strike has begun - Twet at 09:52 BST).
